Uber Pre-screen OA for new grads in Amsterdam 2024

Uber Pre-screen OA for New Grads in Amsterdam 2024

Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent experience with the pre-screen Online Assessment (OA) for a new grad position at Uber in Amsterdam. I took the assessment just four days ago, and while it was challenging, I managed to complete all the problems with a flawless score of 600 out of 600 on CodeSignal!

Assessment Overview

The assessment consisted of a variety of problems that tested different aspects of algorithmic thinking and coding skills. Here’s a brief breakdown of the types of problems I encountered:

  1. Super Easy Problem: This was a straightforward question that required basic coding skills. It was a great warm-up for the rest of the assessment.

  2. Normal Easy Problem: Slightly more challenging than the first, but still within the realm of easy. It required some logical thinking but was manageable within the time limit.

  3. Medium Problem: This one demanded more in-depth understanding of algorithms. It was a good test of my problem-solving skills and took a bit longer to solve.

  4. Easy-Hard Problem: This was the most interesting problem. To find the optimal solution, I had to apply a binary search based on mathematical considerations, which was a fun challenge!

Overall, I completed the entire assessment in exactly 69 minutes out of the 70 minutes allocated, which felt quite satisfying.

Post-Assessment Experience

Despite my strong performance, I haven’t heard back from Uber yet, which has left me feeling a bit anxious. In the email I received, they mentioned that candidates would be contacted within a few days, but as of today, I’m still waiting. This uncertainty is tough, especially since I’ve applied to several big tech companies and haven’t heard back from them either. It can be disheartening to feel discarded, especially when it seems to be based solely on my CV. 🥲

Encouragement from the Community

I’ve seen some supportive comments from others in similar situations. One helpful piece of advice was to give it a week or so. It’s important to remember that achieving the maximum score possible in the assessment is a significant accomplishment, and there’s not much more one can do while waiting for feedback.

Conclusion

Navigating the hiring process, especially in tech, can be a rollercoaster of emotions. While it’s easy to feel disheartened by the lack of immediate feedback, it’s crucial to stay positive and focused on your accomplishments. I hope to hear back soon, and I’ll keep you all updated on my journey. For anyone else preparing for similar assessments, remember to practice your algorithms and problem-solving skills, as they can make a huge difference!
